Beginning an Exercise Program
Your health care provider will be pleased that you are becoming more active. However, some health conditions require attention before beginning a regular physical activity program. Check with your doctor if you:
- Have been diagnosed with a chronic disease or are at risk for asthma or diabetes.
- Have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol or have a family history of heart disease.
- Are pregnant or might become pregnant.
- Smoke or use tobacco products.
- Don’t know your health status and think exercise may be harmful to you.
