The word “Tuition” sometimes sound very confusing to the parents. They are always in a dilemma whether to send their child to tuition or not. Its a common scenario in India of having wars for tuition between teens and parents. Sometime kids really need tuition and parents don’t send them and sometimes kids don’t need it and parents send them forcefully. Here the need is to evaluate your child’s need of tuitions. So here are some tips and guidelines to know if your child really needs tuition.
Your child may need tuitions in any of the following case:-
- If he/she is not able to finely cope with his/her school work.
- If you want your child to establish better grades in school.
- When your child progresses to a higher level of learning; he or she may not be able to catch up with the more complex and faster pacing school work.
- When you may not be able to give enough time to your child’s education.
- Despite having wonderful relationships with your child, you may have trouble helping them (particularly teenagers) with school-work.

On the other hand, if your child performs academically well, he or she will find that tuition can help them improve their grades even further. There are most commonly three ways of getting a tuition :
- Tutor comes home: In this type of tuition tutor comes to your home by himself to teach your kid. It is beneficial as your kid has not to go out of the home and you can see what the tutor is teaching your child. But the tuition fees would be high and your child may feel monotony in his study pattern and may loose interest in his studies.
- Your kids go to the tutor: The very common practice of tuition is sending your kid to the tutor. it depends on the tutor where is he giving tuitions, whether at his own home or he has open some academy. Students mostly love this type of tuition as beside learning they also get to interact with their friends.
- Online tuition: This type of tuition is not very popular in India. Though parents are interested in this type of tuition But there are very few Indian sites about tuition. And those who are there are not up to the level as they don’t cover syllabus for all education boards.
Now when you have decided which type of tuition you want to give to your child you have to think about the tutors also as which tutor will be best for your child. Here are some points which should be kept in mind while hiring a tutor.

First, ascertain the qualifications and experience of a prospective tutor. Then check to make sure his/her teaching style is right for your child. Here are some important questions to consider:
- What is the tutor's educational and professional background?
- Is this tutor a specialist in one academic area?
- Has the tutor worked with kids like yours?
- How does he/she deal with unmotivated or resistant students?
- Are his/her lessons structured? Serious? Light? Flexible?
Location
The location should not be very far from your house. It should be somewhere near by. Also you can get a home tutor if you don’t want to send your child anywhere.
Cost
Make sure that the cost of the tutor fits your pocket. Also you can compare the rates with some other tutors.
