Things No One Tells You About Pregnancy
It's hard to imagine there could possibly be anything you haven't read, seen on TV, or been told about pregnancy. After all, the number one truth about pregnancy is that everyone feels compelled to tell you every detail about their own experiences. Surely you've heard it all, right?
Well, just in case you haven't, here are some of the things you'll be glad to hear are normal and are not just happening to You!
Emotional wreck? If you are feeling more annoyed, angry, sad or nervous than ever before, take comfort in knowing that there are thousands of other pregnant women out there feeling the exact same way.
Don't laugh!Well, not too hard anyway. Accidental peeing does happen…especially in your third trimester. You will also likely find – starting early in your pregnancy – that you need to go to the bathroom much more frequently and with more urgency.
Love your enemas like your friends. While not comfortable, constipation is a very normal result of pregnancy. Try to increase your water intake. (Then See "Don't laugh.")
Hot stuff!Hot flashes aren't reserved just for menopause. You're body can become overheated quickly when you're pregnant.
Sweet dreams. Many women report having more vivid dreams during pregnancy than at any other time in life. Yet another good reason to get more sleep when you're pregnant!
Bringing sexy back.If you are one of the lucky few, you may experience a significant increase in your sex drive during pregnancy. However, most moms report a less vigorous sex drive, generally in direct correlation with the growing size of their bellies. Regardless of which way you go, just know it will likely not be business as usual.
Now THAT's attractive!Things like runny noses and sinus problems, bloody gums, skin problems (particularly on the face), headaches, and increases in vaginal discharge and gas are all very common complaints of pregnant women. A lot of women also complain of painful leg cramps, especially at night.
Change is good. While most changes during pregnancy are temporary, there are a few that may be permanent. Your hair texture can change – for some it's better. A lot of women also find that their feet are bigger after they've had children. (What a good excuse to buy new shoes!) Without question, the most profound change you will have is in your mindset. You will look at the world and it's happenings in a completely different way once you realize you are bringing a little life into it.
